After modifying secondary mirror holder in my previous blog post, I have decided that next modification will be primary mirror mask.
Primary mirror mask will reduce diffraction effects caused by primary mirror clips that holds mirror in place. Stars should apear sharper after installing mask.
Instalation steps:
- remove primary mirror from your telescope
- unscrew all screws that are holding primary mirror clips in place
- install 3D printed mirror mask
- screw it in position and be careful not to overtighten them
- put primary mirror back in
- check collimation of primarry mirror
For detail explination and instalation instruction you can see this great post by Michael from www.backyard-universe.de.
You can download free 3D model from thingiverse.com or printables.com and use it on your telescope.
