What's new in upcoming Collimation Circles 3.0

With version 3.x Collimation Circles gets support for camera video stream. What this means? Well, with previous releases user had to use it's own solution for displaying video from telescope camera and use Collimation Circles as overlay.

With new tool user just have to enter URL of video stream and hit Start button and video stream will be displayed as application background. It's even simpler on Linux with Libcamera compatible camera connected. All you have to do is hit Start button and application will start video stream automagically for you. Isn't that just awsome?

Thats all, after that you can use Collimation Circle application as before.

Posibilities are really endless. Here are some examples of use cases:

  • CC runs on Windows and connects to video stream of your telescope
  • CC conects to remote video stream and you help to collimate your friends telescope
  • CC runs on your Raspberry PI and creates video stream for you. No messing around with custom streaming software
  • Use VLC to capture your camera stream (on Windows and possibly Linux too) and then connect CC to it
